Ocala sits inside a ring of springs that stay 72°F all year: Silver Springs and its glass-bottom boats are minutes from downtown, Rainbow Springs is a half hour west, and Juniper and Alexander sit deep in the Ocala National Forest. Locals treat them as the summer swimming pool and the winter photo op.
On the other side of town, the World Equestrian Center hosts shows most weeks of the year, with restaurants and events open to the public — you do not need a horse to make an evening of it.
